You don't have to make video games to read books about game design, but checking out the following should give you some insight into the thinking patterns of those that do. Still, I have received numerous comments of support and numerous complaints about my recent words about the challenges of finding great game designers. Dear Class, One of your classmates, Joseph Goldberg, wrote to suggest "Challenges for Game Designers" by Brenda Brathwaite and Ian Schreiber. Http://www.kotaku.com.au/author/chris-bateman/ Brenda Brathwaite has a book, 10 challenges for game designers that has been recommended. Far more constructive and enlightening ways. I also experienced this excitement first hand in Norfolk, VA this weekend as I participated in NSU's TechFest by giving workshops on game design for the STEM Challenge.
